Wiring Harness Clafication

Ok i am considering a re wire of om 66 custom cab. It has the 4 guages and sweep spedo. The actual wiring does not scare me but I have some questions I am hoping can be answered. 1. I am considering using the ez wiring harness because it seems to fit in my budget. I am unshure which to get but can figure that out. So does anyone know if it comes with the conectors? do I have to use my own? find new ones? or what? (what about the ing switch headlight etc?)
2. does it allow the dome light to be used?
3. If i switch to after market guages later will it allow for it?
4. Any words of advise?
5. I was hoping to sodder the conections and then shrink wrap them. is this good or bad??
6. Any thing else i should replace( I plan on new batt cables very soon anyway)
7. Anything else i need to get for this?
thanks and

Have a 65 and went with reproduction headlight, engine and taillight harnesses. Same connectors and wire color codes. Unplug the old and plug in the new, but kinda pricey. Have not found repro. dash harness. Reconditioned the original and added couple extra circuits and although time consuming satisfied with results. Novice, but from what I have read, solder and heat shrink is best way to go. May want to run a search in this forum, 61-66, topic has come up on occasion. If recall, members who went with the aftermarket kits found instructions and, if needed, customer suppport very helpful. Understand the kits are universal so going with aftermarket guages would not be a problem. Also, would assume kit includes dome harness wire, if not, it is only a single wire running from dash to dome light. I purchased the electrical wire diag. and found it very helpful. Suggest staying away from the laminated versions being sold, did not find it of any use.

One other question, If i want to use my factory switches ( all of them) is there a place I can purchase new connectors that plug into the back of them? Or would I have to cut/take the old ones off and then splice them together and sodder? I would like new connectors and wire ends. Thanks

Replaced all harnesses on 65 and they all had OME connectors. Only connectors had to deal with were those on the dash harness, unfortunately, have not found anyone who repro's them. Found the pins (socket terminal) can be removed from the connector using tweezers, mini screwdriver, on something simular. The connector that comes to mind is the turn signal where it connects to the headlight harness inside cab. Could not find replacement connectors, perhaps those used on later model Ford trucks will work, not sure. Removed the connectors needed, plus few others, from donor truck in salvage yard. Found a local auto parts store that carried the 'pin terminals'. Believe 'Carquest'can order them for you. Soldered wire onto pin then inserted into connector. There are couple different type sockets so suggest take connector with you if decide to go this route. On some of the other circuits, had to cut and splice, as you indicated, then solder and shrink tape. Found some Part numbers for terminal pin sleeves and connectors may be helpful.

Terminal pins sleeve C4AZ 14488-A and C4AZ 14488-B

Flat pin sleeve is C4AZ 14461 A

8 pin terminal sleeve (connector):C4AZ 14489 F
8 socket terminal sleeve (connector): male:C4AZ 14489 E

4 & 6 pin terminal sleeve: C5AZ 14489 H
4 & 6 socket terminal sleeve: C5AZ 14489 G

2 circuit pin terminal sleeve (connector): C5AZ 14489-E
2 circuit socket terminal sleeve (connector): C5AZ 14489F

There is also a terminal extraction tool:C4AZ 17018 B

These are a few sites that carry a bunch of different parts that maybe hard to find. I sent one to Number Dummy that I can't find new that carries all the OEM connectors.
