Hey guys, I hardly ever pull anything with my truck but i had a reason to this pass weekend. It was a tiny trailer about 6 x 12 but loaded heavy and then about a half of load of firewood in the back. I used the tow/ haul button and loved it. The straight pipe really carries a conversation on with you. lol My question is,, a couple of years ago i pulled a race trailer about once a month and didnt use the tow mode. What dictates the tow mode?? Should everything be pulled this way or just the normal mode unless the truck is down shifting and stuff, I was just wondering,,thanks.
it seems to me the egts are cooler in the tow mode,, least i know it cools down quicker,, is this my imagination??
Your EGT will not necessarily be lower in TH. However, your transmission is likely to run in a lower gear while in TH. Running higher RPM in a lower gear will result in lower EGT. So don't jump to the conclusion that TH somehow changes fueling or boost or in any way directly changes EGT. The gear you are running is the only difference.
