c6 interchange

i have a 86 f150 w/c6 tranny.will a c6 from a 76 390 fit?
86 is a 4.9 engine

No. Different bolt pattern. 4.9,5.0, 5.8 are the same bolt pattern.

Just look around you can find the right trans pretty easily. Any C6 transmission that was bolted up to the windsor family motor will work.

390 engine is a FE family ( 352 , 360 , 390 , 428 ) the front of the tranny looks round , and the fronts of the tranny you have looks a saw horse !!

Top is small block
Middle is big block 335
Bottom is big block FE

Its small photo but you can see the diffrences.

Found it while trolling the web while back, I did bookmark the site but it went bye-bye after that web provider(aol? or geocities?) closed up. They had lots more diagrams and photos there

I am not sure why it came through FTE as a small photo. Have to reconvert it and try again.
