I found out that the reason that my hands get so cold in the winter is something called Raynaud's -- after whoever discovered it. There are drugs for it, so I understand, but my doc would just as soon not put me on those.
It is fairly annoying, and I was wondering if any other fter's have it, and what you do about it.
I end up putting on jersey gloves when I'm on the net late at night. I use good gloves and hand warmers outside, but all of that only goes so far.
i suffer from the same thing, but never knew it had a name. i assumed it was a side effect from the frostbite i had on my hands back in the 70's, because it started after the frostbite.
i also have arthritis in both hands, and neuropathy in my right hand.
i take darvocet to "take the edge off", but basically just wear gloves under 40 degrees.
I too have a mild form of Reynaud's. I have a pair of glove liners that I wear when my hands start to bother me.
For those who do not know what Reynaud' is, here is a description; Raynaud's disease: Symptoms - MayoClinic.com
well, that explains a lot. thanks shorebird.
not only did i have frostbite in my hands, but i also in the onset stages of rheumatoid arthritis. so that explains the Raynauds.
and i was just talking to my 80 year old father who told me his gout hits him in his hands and wrist, so i am going to the doctors to see if what i am thinking is neuropothy is really gout.
