Vacuum instead of boost?

Hey guys, I'm trying to get a boost gauge to work and it does but the line from a tapped elbow is drawing a vacuum instead of pushing boost. Whats going on?

What RPM do you guys see boost start to read?

I've got it tapped into the elbow right at the MAF heading into the intake manifold where others have tapped their hoses into so I think that's right.

Diesel engines don't make much vaccum. I think you have somthing crossed up or a bad gauge.

I can feel the vacuum with my finger through the hose.

Not sure I understand this...the MAF sensor is between the air filter and the turbo compressor intake.

Most folks with a mechanical boost gauge install them on the intake elbow.

if you put a gauge connection on the inlet side of the turbo (between air cleaner and turbo) you will not be showing "boost". In order to see boost, you have to be after the pressurized side of the turbo someplace.

OK sorry guys, I put the hose to my tongue and I am getting boost but it's very little even at 2000rpms.

How many lbs should I be getting at idle and up?

You won't see any boost to speak of until you put the motor under a load.

I just took it for a drive and did the VGT relearn and the most I would see was 3-4 and that was going up a hill, it's ******* compared to how it was. Aside from the CAC silicon coupler things what else could cause this? I still hear the turbo whine but just not getting any boost. Is there a smoke test to find leaks?
