Hi all is a dana 44 hd steering knuckle the same as a Dana 60. I need a steering block for a 4 inch lift but the Dana 44 blocks are wrong they have 3 bolts in a cresent and I have 4 in a square. I would rather not swap out the front axle to a 78/79 Dana 60 until I have too.
yes they are different. the dana 44 has the 3 studs coming up which the steering arm bolts to and what you have is for a dana 60. but i do have a 4" drop draglink that is basically new i took off my truck. pm me if your interested
Maybe I said that wrong. I have a Dana 44hd. I have not bought a block yet because I cannot find one that says Dana 44hd specifically. My steering knuckle has 4 bolts in a square and appear the same as a Dana 60. I am wondering if the Dana 44hd and the Dana 60 share the same steering knuckle. If your dropped link is for a Dana 44hd with garrison power assist name your price.
Interesting. Glad this came back up. Hope the OP finally got it sorted after ten years!
But I wonder if he was looking at the 4-bolt kingpin bearing covers? Would like to have seen a pic of what was being discussed, and not all 44's even had the 3-bolt steering arm separate.
Would all 250's of the '74-ish era have had the separate steering arm? Or only some? If all, what else could have been swapped in.
Reason for asking the sideways questions is that the 3-bolt spacers for the bolt-on steering arms have been available for 40 years or more, and I'm pretty sure they were readily available back in '10 too.
Rough Country and Superlift are just two that still advertise today. Maybe they just weren't as easy to search ten years ago.

Well my closed knuckle 74 had the 4 bolt steering arm but it also had a cylinder to act as the upper king pin and my 76 open knuckle has the 3 hole crescent shape and sits right next to the upper ball joint. Both are Dana 44s
