I just picked up a 96 F250 w/7.3 and need a good repair manual. Any suggestions of where to get one?
It has an issue of abruptly shutting off or sometimes stuttering if driven for any distance at under 45 MPH.
The last time I towed the trailer, it ran fine but would die when I put on the brakes. Let the brake go and would fire right up.
Yeah, this is a lot, but, I'm a newbie and full of questions.
Love the site and all the regulars seem to be a great bunch.
This site is one of the best manuals I've found. You might try eBay. I got a CD that is helpful. Haven't used it much. Most of the stuff I've done to the truck was with the assistance of folks on here.
You might also try the local library. I did that to find one for my '97, made a copy of the cover and ISBN and started checking the auto parts stores. Found a manual online that stated it covered the diesel, but when I received it, it wasn't the right one. I sent it back with no problem. Turns out, the book was updated to EXCLUDE the diesel, but they reused the same ISBN. I'm still looking for a manual, but I'm not holding my breath.
You could always start saving money and buy the Ford Shop Manual.
I think I may have a web link somewhere that might be helpful. BRB.

Sounds like you may need a new CPS. I would pick one up and swap it out before it leaves you stranded (it will slowly get worse. slowly if you are lucky). Don't get the "track Auto" one. Get a good one.
This is a great forum with a lot of smart people that will bend over backwards to help. stick around.
Thanks for the great info. Copedawg, you mentioned that when I get a CPS, not to get a track auto, but a good one. Can you give me a sourch for a good one?
Anyone have any ideas about why it dies when pulling the trailer?
I have a PS-TD, auto trans, and trailer has electric brakes.

there is a black one and a gray one. I forgot wich is the junk one. Someone will let us know quickly I am sure. If you buy one at the stealership you will pay alot but it will be the better one. NAPA has the good one too.
