Battery tender advice

My trucks tends to sit more in the winter,One to two weeks at most.I would like to get some kind of battery maintainer for when the truck sits. Here is what I found.Tell me what you think of these or if you could recommend something else to me that would be great.

This is what I've found so far...

BatteryMINDer 1500 | 12 Volt Maintenance Charger Desulfator

Or would I need this one???

Batteryminders Specials | BatteryMinders.com

Would something like this work?

I have 3 BatteryMinder 1500's and an older pre 1500 without temp compensation. The Batteryminder 1500 works great if you only need to maintain the batteries. It will not charge if your batteries are less than 12v when you hook it up. It also desulfates the batteries whereas the batterytender does not.

If you need something that will charge AND maintain, the BatteryMinder 12248 would be best.

I have a dedicated charger so I did not need a charger/maintainer type for my needs.

Ok great,I didn't know that the 1500 doesn't charge them.I think I need something that will give them alittle juice.Last time I started the truck it dropped down to 9-10 volts while cranking.Pretty scary if you ask me...

Yea, that's scary with these trucks.

I put the 1500 on my truck after I park it when I know I won't be driving it for 2+ days. If the batteries are at 12V or higher, It will charge them till it get to 14.xx volts, then it maintains them at 13 62 I think. Now if you put the 1500 on a battery that has 11 or less volts.....you need to charge them first. The 1500 only puts out 1.5 amps, so it's not made for any kind of serious charging...it actually does charge, but would get hot it it tried to charge for a long time period. (as in a battery that's sitting at quite a bit less than 12v)

Is the 12248 still safe to use even if I were to hook it up with the battery's fully charged?

I've never used the 12248, but I just looked at the manual online. If I read correctly, after you hook up the charger, it evaluates your battery condition and either charges it, or maintains it. It appears that it doesn't need human assistance. (as in we can't screw it up) You can hit buttons to force it to charge at different amp levels. Looks like a damn nice unit.

The 1500 is $55 and the 12248 is $160

Right now they have a deal throwing in a cheap digital voltmeter or other accessories with purchase. I got the DVM, and it's good for when I don't want/need to bring out my good one.

So I'm guessing when you hook up you just connect to the drivers side battery?

Also right now on Amazon you can get the 12248 for $127 with free shipping.

It doesn't matter which battery you attach it to, it will charge both. I've used mine on either battery....I've checked both after charge and they both are equal.

You better ****** that up for $127!
