Congratulations on finally picking it up!
I'm working on a project that my granpa and I meant to start, unfortunately he decided to go ahead and meet Mr. Ford instead, now I'm in charge of finishing what we started. Will keep you all posted as things move forward.

Wow that's a nice looking project. From the pic your frame looks really nice. Sometimes they're pretty chewed up with significant rust and dents etc. I like the motor for sure. I really like those EFI 5.0. Nevr had one/don't know all that much about them. But I like EFI for the future and present and its probably and easy fit in your engine bay etc, with I suppose all kinds of aftermarket motor stuff if you want--dress up/performance etc.
That must be a very well supported motor in the aftermarket with all the Mustang stuff.
Welcome and good luck.

I am lucky in the fact my grandfather kept the truck in the garage most of its life. Very little rust, the bad part is he had little patience, drove it between a tree and barn (not enuff room ). Drove it through the back of the barn, and hauled a Bull around in it on numerous occasions. Plenty of Body work to do for sure.

Patience uh? Sounds like me haha. Anyway the good part is--maybe you mentioned it maybe not--but I can see you're pretty experienced by what you've done so far. And in general I think the body work on these 53's is probably not impossible. I've worked on different years and in my experience some of the sheet metal "seems" easier to work than others. Meaning some seems kinda brittle and some nice and soft. The soft is easier to shape etc/at least for me, and I'm just an amateur do it yourselfer. But I've learned that I can just keep working at--usually--until its good or good enough if I've done the best I can.

I like the body work best, I guess. Maybe you'll enjoy doing it?

Nice project and good story of a family truck. Welcome both to you Pappaws53pickup and to Ravenheart who looks like he might have a panel project.

Been awhile but wanted to post an update. Finally got outside and worked on the truck this week. I got the gas tank installed, the transmission cleaned and painted, The Engine/Tranny installed.
