Is this the gem/fuse box under the dash on the driver side? If so I had an issue with my 02 7.3 where the battery would drain down after 8 hours, the computer would not recognize the key. What happens to that fuse box is the windshield will leak, water will follow the wiring harness, and get into the fuse box and corrode the circuits and create the electrical gremlins. You can pull that box apart and clean the circuits and dry it out. Maybe this isn't at all related but here is one thread about it. The bottom picture on the first page is my fuse box pulled apart and cleaned up. The gem is up the left hand corner, it plugs into the fuse box. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...nightmare.html
I have an F350 super duty. It has be diagnosed with a bad vehicle security module. It has the same symptoms that you have described above. Since Ford Motor Company no longer makes this module and apparently there are none to be purchased, my question is: Are there companies out there somewhere that repair these modules? I live in the Oregon so any help in this area would be great. thanks.
I see on your profile that your F350 is a 2002. That seams to be the problem year. I would not want to fix a module from that year as they seam to be lemons. My suggestion is to find a used module from a 2003 Superduty. One of your local junkyards probably has one. Buy it and take it to your local Ford dealer and have them reconfigure it for your vehicle. I took mine with it hanging out of the dash so I didn't get charged for the uninstall and reinstall labor and all they had to do was configure it. You may want to have a conversation with the service manager of your dealer before you purchase one. They may have some input. Just my $0.02.

Thank you for responding to my problem. When I talked to the Ford dealer here, I was informed that the vehicle security module had to come from exactly the same vehicle model. So you are telling me that one out of a 2003 ford f350 can be configured to work in my 2002 f350? I will make sure to talk to them about it. I did find one in a salvage yard and told the repair shop that was trying to fix my problem and he said it would not work. It was not a ford dealer that I was working with. Thanks again, I will let you know how this all turns out. Its really a bummer having to put up with all of these weird problems on a perfectly good truck.
