need some advice...

Hey all! Look, I have a 97 f150 lariat. Its got the 5.4L. V8 with 4 wheel drive. I got it about a year ago. It had been sitting for about 3 years. I paid a grand for it and it had 204K mile on it. I cleaned it up and changed the oil in it. Now its starting to tap. Its been a great work truck and id like to keep it. Would I be better off rebuilding the motor and trans or just buying another truck? I have all the means to remove and rebuild, im just not sure if it'll be worth my time. Thanks guys!!!

First check to see that all eight spark plugs are torqued correctly as these heads had a tendency to shoot out the plug when over tightened.

When is it "tapping"? If it is only when it is cold, it could be just piston slap. If it is still running ok, I say just drive it.
