I have a 1999 F-150 XLT and while driving the wipers just start for few seconds and then go off. It happens every now and then, at first I notice it when turning but I can be driving on a straight away and it does it. Any know problems concerning this? I love my Truck, I brought it used six years ago never owned a truck before. Any suggestion to what might be causing this?
I'm pretty sure you're going to find it's a problem with the multi-function switch (turn signal stem assembly). Not too hard to change. Part is about $100 at the dealer.
Problem is one day your headlights could quit working. Happened to me at night of course. I had all kinds of phantom wipes before hand, better off replacing the switch sooner than later.
Thanks Joe and Fox for the reply @Avator I have been putting up with it for awhile and you are right, sometimes nothing happens for months.
@galaxie641 Thanks I drive home at night I won't put this off!
