I sold quite a few of those back when I worked at Checker Auto, they were problematic on almost all ford EFI's from the 1.8 Escort to the big V-8. If I remember right, they are about $50+ or -. Some one on this board mentioned taking it off and cleaning it with some kind of chemical, I don't remember what he said he used though. I do remember it was harsher then just carb spray (acetone maybe?).

I'm gonna go back on what I said, lol. Ford told me that it was throwing a code for it and I didn't get around to replacing it until just now.. and it still fluctuates. Not nearly as bad so I'm thinking that it helped but not completely solved.

well, I checked the vacuum lines, there is a large black one that comes off the motor on the driver side (LH) and it splits one line then goes up by the maste cylinder and one goes to a reservoir, I checked and the line to the reservoir was clogged blew it out but didn't notica difference, the other issue is that there is no line comming out of the reservoir it's just capped off. is this normal? the reservoir is below the coolant overflow/wiper fluid tank.

Check your TPS, too. Mine would go from a low idle to a rev and hang at like 2500 rpm's when it went bad - at random just sitting.

This could be a vacuum problem at the EGRC/EGRV solenoid valves assembly I have been seeing a lot of these for some reason.

my truck did the same thing. I replaced the same things as you did and couldnt find any leaks.

a month or two later I had the battery unplugged for a little while and it fixxed the problem, just had to reset the computer I guess
