I'll Check bu highly unlikely according to the local "experts". About the only thing I have NOT done is to remove the injectors to see if they are plugged or not. The reason I am sure it is a fuel delivery problem is that as long as one sprays quick start into the manifold, it will keep running, but as soon as you stop, it burns out the quick start, burbles like an ice cold engine and dies.
Anyone have any experience with plugged injectors?
Yes, every position possible from full throttle to idle and everything in between.
Todays "fun" was checking all grounds and cleaning them, checking fuel flow by looking at return line, voltage to injectors, new terminal on positive cable, checking shut off in side panel. NOTHING. Again, as long as starter fluid is squirted into throttle area, she starts and runs like new, as soon as the fluid is gone, so is the engine. Typi\ycal running out of fuel sputters and coughs.
Is there another relay somehwre that controls the firing of the injectors as it seems no fuel getting to cylinders.
Thanks
Krewat,
I get 11.89 volts to each of the injectors so I don't think the ground is bad. I do suspect the firing is off however or the ground may be loose or bad accounting for the sudden shut down. Where is the PCM and wouldn't it give off a code?
I am at my wits end, nothing new about that, but I have exhausted most of my auto knowledge on this one. The "obvious" certainly is not on this one.
OK People, the silence is deafening ! Can anyone tell me what controls the sequential firing order of the inijectors? Is it the cam sensor or the PCM? Where are each located? I have exhausted nearly every other item as I have fuel, pressure, spark and just can't seem to get them to work together. I am still suspect of the ground at the PCM or whichever device controls the injector impulses.
Do any of you have the answer?/
Thanks
OK, Thanks. I will check this weekend. The way this thing has been acting, I am pretty sure it is a loose wire or bad ground that has progressively become worse. The fact that it starts quickly and continues to run as long as starter fluid is sprayed into the throttle body makes me feel the injectors are not getting the signal to do their thing.
I'll report when tried.
Thanks
OKAY GANG, Had a big storm so didn't get anything done, but today replaced the cam sensor and gues what?/ STARTED IMMEDIATELY and ran for all of 2 minutes. Died and SAME DAMN THING ! Will not stay running and will not start. It seems like something gets hot and it quits. PCM?? ANY IDEAS?? This is really crazy. When it started this time, it sounded great, ran smooth even though very cold. Then started to idle a bit rough and then rougher then just quit. When trying to restart, acts like no fuel again. Getting real old here!!
HELP PLEASE
OK so none of you have any more ideas. Thats OK. Can any of you tell me where I might locate the PCM?? Believe me, I have traced the harnesses and can't locate it. I asked the local Ford dealer and they said, "bring it in"! SURE, if it were running I would doncha think?? Thats about the level of competence they have where I live.
So, it sems to me that after a very few minutes of running, something heats up and tells the PCM to stop sending signals to the injectors so it runs out of fuel. and then won't restart.
WHERE THE HELL IS THAT D___ thing anyway???
Thanks one and all
I believe it is in the center of your dash. Maybe right behind and above your gas pedal. You said you did replace the fuel filter and reg? So you found the reg?
I will take a look. I have been told it is in the side kick panel, on the firewall next to the master cylinder, on the left side firewall, etc, etc, etc.
Seems they can be anywhere.
Even then, no way to really test it. Just going to try and clean contacts and recheck.
What about throttle position sensor? It really seems weird that the thing runs fine with go juice. Something is telling the fuel to not flow. Back to reading.
Your fuel pressure should stay within 5 psi for one minute of its max pressure when you turn key on and then shut key off. Other tests before that include testing the tps for voltage. If the fuel pressure does not stay up and you have no leaks the cd's say replace pcm.
Just an update on Viker123, He found and pulled the pcm and the connectors were full of water. He is attempting to get a new pcm. Does anyone know if there is a way of testing it?
