Welcome to FTE....you've found the right place to ask around. If you have a question...some one on this site can answer it for you. Lets start off with the basics. i'm assuming its a 4wd. What engine do you have. What kinda off roading are you looking to do, trailriding, rock crawling, mud bogging? Let us know a little more and we'll get ya goin.
The engine is a 302, 4 speed trans, basically all stock.
It hasn't been run for a while so it is going to need some work just to get it inspected. the engine runs great, but when i took it to my mechanic he told me it is going to need thins like brake lines, callipers, axle seals in the rear and some other minor things to get inspected. I figure while I am doing those things and before I have it road ready I can make some modifications and save myself the trouble of doing things twice.
I primarily want to do some muddin' and trail ridding. I don't think I have enough experience to do any serious rock climbing but as I get better and braver I will adjust the truck accordingly.
Right now I consider myself a novice, so any advise is welcome.
The only real hangup I have right now is finding tires for the 16.5 rims without selling my first born.
depending on size of lift and tires you want to run you might want to consider upgrading brakes as a first thing. its the first on most of my projects. also i just read you need new brake lines. might as well buy extended brake lines that way its done for when you lift your truck.... if you are lifting it
