Tailgate to liftgate gap?

I could use a little help. Just put the factory top on my Bronco for the first time now that winter is coming the North East. The gap between the tail gate and lift gate has to be an inch or better. The top is seated and the lift gate is missing the rubber, but there is no way it going to cover that gap. What is the solution to this? I am assuming maybe the tailgate can go up a bit- if I remember right there is some adjustment, but not an inch. I just had 2.5 inch exhaust installed out the back and I feel like I am being slowly killed by the fumes.

Tailgate should be level with top of the bed. Unless you used an awful thick seal for the top, the liftgate seal should cover it.

The oem 'gasket' I have on mine here in Amherst, MA is 3/4" thick. The typical bronk houses have em for sale. Should wrk. Any prob? measure, if needed when screwing one on - back it with something solid (shim) or a 1/4 inche piece of generic (JC Whitney, local prts store) weather strip. I see others put down the sole plate seal from the mud seal on a house. Don't think you'll need any of these additions tho. U R right to think about a seal tho, bronks suck the wind back there.

Thanks

I had no idea that the gap and seal was that thick. I will order an oem style today and then see where that leaves me.
I appreciate the help

Hole on there fella, the wonder of the internet and modern technology may save ya some $ (I'm unemployed outside of skiddin some logs w/the bronk up to the band saw mill) a very important factor.

Take a pic, post it out to me, I'll do the same (I need yer email, don't know how to do it here). Meanwhile ask on cb dot com to C what the others say (only Richard has offered, here, n he's knee deep in a ranger build) they're experts. Compare the pic, match to the answ 2 the posts U made over there (may B even ask if some 1 is cheeper than carpenter - the 1 all the vendors buy offa anyway) then decide what 2 do. Sound weird - that's the way I do stuff .

Not exactly what you are asking about, but I'd suggest anyone with tailgate to liftgate issues to also check the security tab...can't think of the correct name, but that little tab that adds a little security and mounted on the tailgate. Adjusting that a bit helps with the overall fit. Found out by accident but it's worth looking at. Loosen it and move it around until you get a good fit.
