Exaust Sound/Muffler
I have a 2001 V-10 Excursion that needs a new muffler and tailpipe. currently it has what looks like a 40 series Flowmaster 3" in dual 2 1/2" out muffler. I know what most v-8s sound like with differnet mufflers, but what are some decent sounding mufflers for the V-10? Any links to sound clips? I am not opposed to another flowmaster, but I dont want hagway drone either.
Thanks!

V10's have a unique exhaust sound that many of us believe is OK at best, obnoxious at worst!
Even Lambo's and early 2000 F1 cars with V10's don't sound as good to me as a V12, V8, or 90 degree V-2.
So my goal was keep it moderate but not wheezy, and NO drone when towing (I do a lot).
I am very happy with the sound of FM BB50 (the BIGGEST FM available) and 3" pipe with stock routing. Sounds somewhat stock, but a bit louder. No significant highway drone - I can hear it more than stock, but not too much. Still easy to carry on a conversation.
Keep in mind FM's are not stainless and may rust out pretty quick in some parts of the country.

How about something like this? Note, it is stainless steel.

The 40s and 44s also are made in stainless. I havent been able to find the BB50 in stainless though.
Thanks!

Below is the link to the catback (part # 17229) I installed on my truck and my dads truck. The catback will bolt in place of the stock system I just replaced the pipe between the cat and the muffler also. The system is good for the money and you can slow the rust down with some header paint on the rust spots. The catback doesn't come with a tip but you can add one easy enough, just cut the tailpipe shorter. A 3" in 4" out 12" long tip fits and looks nice. Autoanything is where I got both catbacks and they are the cheapest I've found.
Its the $226.95 one.

I have the Gibson dual extreme exhaust system on my truck('08 V10). Both tailpipes are very well made and fit very nicely. However Gibson's mufflers sound terrible, a lot of drone and sounds ricer-ish. I had the Gibson muffler on for a week and ordered a 3 chambered Magnaflow. The Magnaflow has an awesome sound and no drone but I am on my third muffler because it has a whistle between 2,000 RPM's and 3,000 RPM's, so today I ordered a Flowmaster for my truck.

Hey Memphis.......just picked up a 2008 V10 CC 4x4 about 10 days ago. I'd still love to hear your exhaust!! (I know we chatted on here real quick about that a while back).
