HELP! Starter slow to turn??
I have a 2001 Ford Excursion with a V10 and the starter seems to hesitate slowly almost like it isnt going to start because of a dead battery but instead of clicking as if the battery is dead it turns over slow then starts. generally this occurs when cold but then yesterday it occured during the warmer part of the day.

The first step with any starting complaint is to have your battery checked. Battery age means nothing. If the battery tests good then you need to remove the battery cables and clean them to make sure the voltage drop is not too great because of resistance causing corrosion. Mine did this last week on a cold morning and when I checked my Batteries (2 for a diesel) one showed 825 cold cranking amps and the other one showed 525. Both call for 1000 CCA. So for me it was new battery time. Hope this helps.
