Man I'm getting tired of fighting this! For over a year now I have had my check engine light on and now I have to get it smogged before the end of the month. (yes I live in California " the land of fruits and nuts and sometimes even the weather is a little queer")
I have done the following to try and remedy this:
Removed valve covers and inspect connections and wiring. No issues found
Fifty cent mod
Tightened all the capscrews under valve cover.
Remove valve covers and replace wire loom and gasket
replace injector drive module at which time I measured the resistance of the wiring between the IDM and each injector. All were within spec, 3.0 to 3.4 ohms.[*]Also checked all my grounds associated with the injector drive module. No issues there either.
I am still getting P1316 "injector drive module codes"
I can clear it, then drive less than a mile before it comes back on.
I hope somebody can help me clear this up, I've spent close to a thousand dollars to remedy this and I don't want to take it to the dealer.
I have had other codes in the past. I have been able to clear them though. Most of them because I did something wrong while working on the truck like failing to connect a connector or putting a hose on the wrong place. I did have a code relating to "IPR low" a few times. As far as drivability issues though, I have had none. It runs stong, pulls the grapevine @ 65 in 6th gear. Grapevine is a strech of I-5 with a 6% grade and probably 5 miles long and I weigh 13,000 pounds.
I have not done a buzz test. This AE is new to me and I have not learned how to do it.
