Personally I wouldn't and didn't use the BB. I used the Ford press. regulator spring upgrade kit with the blue spring. You have too much money invested in your diesel to take a short cut like that. If something goes wrong do you think Daisy is going to cover it for selling an out of spec BB? Some have done it and gotten away with it. At least for the time being. Your motor and your truck. Weigh the 70 bucks vrs. a blown engine or trashed injectors.
Hey guys. What will I gain out of the BB mod? Besides more pressure.
What problems will this mod cure if any at all?
Thanks in advance
It's more like a preventative mod. I wouldn't recommend doing it without a fuel pressure gauge or knowing what your fuel pressure is doing, but it's really easy (and cheap) to do. It will cure low fuel pressure which will cause premature injector failure. I've done several trucks with no issues. It usually raises the fuel pressure about 10 psi.
ok can someone help me, were do i find the fuel presure regualtor ?
I would like to try the BB as a trouble shooting issue . Im losing power after warm up. anyway if it works were do i find the ford upgrade kit ? any websites ? thanks
thanks
i think it might be fuel pressure because it just started doing this as it has gotten cooler outside and it cranks up and runs cold ( a little missing )
but after it warms up it runs fine , but when i shut it down with a hot engine it doesnt want to start back up i have to really crank it
^^^^Agree there! Especially if you don't have a Fuel pressure gauge. You wont know what pressure the "bb" will take you. The Ford part will put it (fuel pressure) where it should be.
ok but if i wanted to test with a BB, being if that doesnt fix my problem then take it back out and fuel pressure is taken off the list as possiable problem. basicly sounds like the spring needs to be shimed up ( with a BB ) to make it push harder ? so would I just take off it anyone done this before ?
I personally did the BB and had no problems at all, I have a gauge. Trusting Ford sounds kinda funny considering they screwed up in the first place. $64 for a .50 spring they should replace on a recall doesn't do a lot to make me happy. .Just my opinion..

That is an understandable statement, especially seeing as how the newest BLUE fuel pressure spring is the third attempt at getting it right. The first attempt was the stock spring.
The second was a new spring that was about 1/8" longer than the stock spring.
And now the third is the BLUE spring.
I went with the GDS spring for twenty dollar's, at first I was warned about the chance of making to much fuel pressure and ruining the O-rings on the injectors, but at around 20,000 miles later I am not having any injector related issues. I'm knocking on wood as I type this.

"GDS spring for twenty dollar's" , were did you find the 20$ spring the ones i found on ebay are like 68$ ?
also did it do you anygood ? could you feel any thing when driving that would make you feel it was running better ? also what was the problem that lead you to wanting to try this spring ?

When I bought the spring I was experiencing a lack of pedal response and power at WOT. After I put the spring in the pedal was much more responsive. It was a very noticable difference.
I don't have a fuel pressure guage so I can't tell you what my fuel pressure is with it. Alot of guys on here warned me that the fuel pressure would be too great and that I would blow the O-rings out of my injectors, but no problems after 20,000 miles, "again knocking on wood"
