Fuel Pressure Regulator--Need Quick Help

I'm installing the fuel pressure regulator upgrade. I have the old cover/spring off and am ready to put the new one on. Mine requires the black plastic piece that fits in the spring hole. There are two O-rings in the new kit that will fit the new black plastic piece, one black and one (slightly smaller) green one. Which O-ring do i use? The old O-ring is black, but it's flat like a washer, whereas the two new ones are round. Maybe the old one is flat from being squished in the fitting for 6 years?

I'm supposed to be somewhere in a couple hours so hope somebody knows the answer.

The black one goes with the black piece, the green one goes with the fitting you took out of the old cover, and the tan colored one goes on the other end of the fitting you took out of the old cover. Hopoe this helps

Thanks Strokin. Can you be more specific about the green and tan O-rings? I put the new tan O-ring on the old fitting (where the threads go into the cover) as it was the size of the old tan O-ring. Are you saying the green one goes on the fuel line side of that fitting?

Yes it goes in the end of the fitting where the fuel line connects, you are correct on the tan. Dont be late.

The install went fine once I got past my O-ring confusion. I was trying to follow the little "Service Instructions" (hah!) sheet that came in the kit, but they don't show the supply line O-ring, only the one on the black plastic seat, the one on the plunger, and the little bitty one that goes on that white nylon vent thing at the top of the housing cover. Plus, to make things even more confusing, I happened to find another tan O-ring sitting on top of the engine head near the BP sensor. I have no idea where that came one from, but I kept thinking it musta fallen out of the fuel pump regulator when I wasn't looking or something. Apparently not. Anyway, once I got over my O-ring dilemma I got it running just in time to make my appointment.

Glad to hear you made your appointment, much improved fuel pressure?

No fuel pressure gauge (yet) so don't really know. I presume it's less likely to be too low now, at least.

You should have picked up somewhere between 10 to 15 lbs. depending on where you were before the change.

Hey 69cj, Just did a fuel pressure mod with the blue spring. My pressures went from 49 psi to 70 psi. Did I assemble something wrong? The posts I read said between 10-15, not 20? What is the pressure directly from the pump? Concerned that I may have too much for the injectors. I have a 6.0 2004.

Your fuel pressure is fine. Just means your pump is a little better than most.
