If you do a search there is a great thread where someone shows the fuel coming through the fuel bowl before & after. Air in the lines is hard on all the components (fuel pump thru the injectors). Keeps the air out by deleting the mixing chamber & duck bill in tank. Also extends the return line further away from the pick-up tube.
To sum it up, it consists of removing the quick-connects on the vacuum-side of the fuel lines (between the pump and tank) and replacing them with hose and clamps. It also has you removing the in-tank strainer and replacing it with straight tubing and an external filter mounted under the truck so that you don't have to drop the tank to clean anything. The return line is run into the corner of the tank rather than back into the pickup line... this keep any air that may end up in the lines from going back into the pickup line. Eventually, it's supposed to purge itself of air. On last thing that is done is the filler necks that hang down into the tank are cut off flush with the inside edge of the tank... this allows you to fill the tank up to the last gallon or so a LOT quicker. Instead of standing there for 15 minutes trying to get the last 5-gallons in, you only take a few minutes to put the last gallon or so in. Here's a link to my album of my in-tank mods... just never got around to making a thread yet:

Great pics bud, on the tube you put on the return line in the tank how much did you have to bend it to clear the float?
It was kinda a blind guess... just bent it around the float as I had it laying on my tailgate. I do wish I had made the tube a little shorter, though, because the end would get hung up on the outside edge of the tank. Someday, I'll have the truck torn down to do the frame up right and I'll fix it all up right now that I've had time to think about how I did it and how I'd like to do it to clean everything up.

I hear you there is always something to tweak on after the fact...lol
My original reason for doing the mod is simply because it was encouraged by the membership here.
When i did it i discovered the foot had fallen apart and was split (poor quality material). I had several inches of fuel in the tank below the fuel pick-up foot.
Do use Guzzle's instructions. He gives us the info to do it effectively.
