Ok i got my 4" skyjacker lift kit about a month ago (and it looks F*&^ING AWESOME). i have been having a problem with my front tires toeing out when i back up and sometimes the front end hops if i turn sharply like its in 4 wheel drive when u turn i think it might be because i havent got a front end allignment since the lift was installed. since im now in back in college i have plenty of time to work on the old girl. so any advice or help is greatly appreciated. thanks blake
ttb i know it has problems but i just got new ball joints and a lot of new of front end work last december. so im kinda hoping its not any of that but schwabs should cover it under warranty.
TTB is the problem then. Check the bushings at the pivot point in the center. Also remember as your shackles move forward and back so does the outer sides of the axle. The center doesn't move. Just one of the **** poor designs Ford approved of
But when you throw in wrenches like lift kits, it kinda messes things up.
With the lift kit, he should have new bushings on the inside if it came with the drop brackets like it should have.
if the center pivot points are not dropped in accordance with the lift, then the front will never align.
yea i got that drop bracket connected to uhh i think its on the passenger side of the ttb. if im thinkin right i got new steering linkages from shwabs when the did my front end work so i might have them check it out again. and yea i knew this ttb would be trouble if i got a lift. but it looks AWESOME any way i love the look so much more than stock. thanks guys.
oh yea coon hunter i have been trying to emember who it was that always defends the ttb against dana 60 guys. hes been helpful in the past to me with issues with my ttb.
Hey guys, not interested in the 60 vs 50 battle...... assuming your ball joints, bushings and steering linkage is tight then you need to get it aligned. And by aligned I don't mean "get it in the green and close enough" it needs to be aligned by somebody that gives a *****. If you get it done then you will really love it. I have almsot 30k on my 37 inch super swampers and only rotated them every 5 to 6k if lucky and there is no feathering or cupping. No tire scuffing around corners and no wheel hop or death wobble.
coon thanks for the help, and sorry wasnt trying to start anything i just remember a few heated discussions involving that which made me proud to stick with the 50. and yea i'll check the ball joints, bushings and steering linkage but im pretty sure schwabs replaced all that last december so i hope they havent gone bad already. and i'll chack around here in k-falls to find somewhere other than shwabs to get it alligned procisely. and Kris i'll try and put a pic up put it wont look pretty it still has the 265's on there from before the lift. since college, and the cost of the lift plus maybe a few cases of beer, has drained all my funds for my 35 inch dick cepek mud country tires i want.
