Another question, overhead consule stopped working

The display that shows temp and direction quit. We checked fuse 10 amp #19 in the book, and it's good.

Any thoughts on how to get it working again?

Thanks!
1999 F350 4x4 dually 7.3 diesel.

I would check the connections going into the overhead console.

What year is it?

It's often resistors that break loose on the circuit board.

Thank you, thank you!! Very detailed, which is what we needed!! How long did it take you to do this, being very careful? ;-) Or have you done so many that you are a rip & pull kinda guy? Will try this and see what's loose.

It's a 5 minute job to remove the circuit board, but it did take me a while to do the soldering, I'm not an electronics expert by any stretch.

We just took it apart, and it looks like the label that says the # fell off, what is left is a little white rectangle. He's seeing how much the whole thing is, $408.95!!!. In the meantime he will super glue that tag on, and he pushed them all in to make sure they are snug, just need to put it back together and see if it works.

Thank you all so much!!

The part that falls off is a resistor, they need to be soldered back on the board. You can replace them with Radio Shack resistors if you can't get the originals to solder down. The 620 is a 62 ohm resistor, and the 680 is 68 ohm.

try finding a local electronic repair shop. they specialize in soldering jobs that are quick and easy for a pro. Usually not expensive. They may even have the resistor you need in stock. I had a guitar/amp repair shop fix mine for FREE, no parts needed, just soldering, had it back next day!!!(store was located next to the pest control office I worked at)

I put the radio shack resistor in mine. I tried soldering mine it lasted a few months a fell off again.Resistor works perfectly. ALSO the obc doesn't cost $400. It's $165 at the local dealer.

Where for $165? Wow, we want one. My Ford dealer wants $408 plus tax! Ouch! We will take ours to a friend who is an expert electronics person, and try the resistors, as that is in budget. however, we would like to have the $165 plan B as a more positive back up plan.

Clux, you rock. Great pics and instruction. Took me longer to get outer cover off than to fix actual problem....only the 620 was loose on mine. Pushed gently on all of them just to be sure (used eraser end of a pencil ) Plugged back in and came right on. Thanks!

There is a place on ebay that sells reconditioned circuit boards for around $30 plus refundable core charge on your old one.
