My 98 ranger has a problem with 4 wheel drive. Sometimes the 4x4 lights flash six times and my 4 wheel drive dose not work. But there are other times that I go to start my truck and every thing is fine. If their is anyone that can shine alittle light on this for me you would be my hero.
Thanks, Jeremy
My 2000 SC 4X4 does the same thing. I've had it to the dealer several times but it is alwasys working when they have it. The code showed a relay and it was replaced several weeks ago. Today I needed it to get out the driveway and it wouldn't work. It appears to be related to temperature. When it drops below freezing it flashes six times and won't work. I took it into the garage and let the snow melt off. Once warmed up it started working immediately. Sure would appreciate any ideas.

berlin MA its next to hudson and marlborough. Just my town does not plow till nightfall so during the day its Trucks and SUV's as far as the eye can see.
AMEN....Worcester, MA here, but I work in Hudson. I have a 95 Ranger, but never had the problem with the electrical on my 4WD. However, the auto-locking hubs went out, so in October I installed Warn manual-lockers. Yeah, it takes a little insight into the future, but right now, with the weather the way it is, my hubs stay locked so I can just turn the switch for 4WD. I can't comment on the electrical problems, though...I've been lucky enough not to have that so far. I did have a solenoid in the T-case burn out, but that was when the truck was new, and warranty covered the tow, and the fix. I was locked in 4WD low when it went out, and wouldn't let me switch back to 2HI.
