Ok I have had a CL for awhile now I dont remeber the numbers but the codes are Banks 1 and Banks2 rich I dont work with gas engines hardly at all I work on diesels so im alittle clueless on these codes, can some one help please?
Those are codes telling you the PCM has richened up the fuel delivery the OX sensors see as to lean due to to much air on the intake side.
Look for a faulty rubber hose on the intake side or any place unaccounted for air is entering past the mass air meter.
The OX sensors are the only way these faults are detected and reported.
The codes are set when the fuel tables are shifted too far out of limits.
Good luck.
Older motors often have hose fitting that get hard and crack.
A cold air intake sometimes can cause the codes.
Any air leak from poor hose reassembly can also be a cause the codes.
Oil from a filter element can desensitize the mass air meter as well.
This can cause poor signal tracking and affects fuel delivery.
The mass air meter has a heated element that is cooled by airflow as a means to measure that flow and report results to the computer for fuel and ignition timing adjustments.
Good luck.
ok thanks again for more input what should I use to clean the maf sensor as i have had the intake for along time now but just cleaned the filter right before the codes started?
Clean the MAF with electrical contact cleaner. Don't touch it. There is a hose (PCV I think) that tends to crack at the elbow back near the fire wall. It can be hard to see so you might need to reach back ther and feel around.
