Interesting Accel points eliminator problem
Thought this might help someone else out. My 65 f100 352FE wouldn't start and I found I didn't have spark. When I took the distributor cap off I noticed the rotor assembly from the Accel points eliminator kit was contacting the IR sending unit which is mounted to the distributor plate. The contact was wearing the two surfaces and creating black plastic dust which coated the IR lenses of the sending unit. To fix the problem I ground about a 1/16" off the rotor portion that was wearing, cleaned the lenses and reassembled. The truck started no problem. After the fact I checked the internet and found this can be a problem with the Accel points eliminator kit. If you intend on using this unit make sure there is clearance between the bottom of the rotor drum and the sending unit.
