fmx confusion
hey people,new to this forum stuff. ..but im baffled...just put a 91 5.0 in my 76 f-100...it had a 360 w a fmx trany that wrked fine..after finding a small block bellhousing i slipped in a 91 5.0 out of a bronco thats in my x wifes name..heh heh....problem is i fired th thing up n while it was warming up i was checking fluids..trany,power steering,etc..it would not pull in any gears??????trany lines got warm so th pump is working....anyway i cut it off an it locked up..th starter couldnt turn it over..aftr removing th starter i put a brecker bar on th crank nut an i could barely turn it over...jus took th trany out an the engine turns normal...with it on the ground i grabed th tork converter an i could turn th trany!!! whats th prob??any ideas??

Check the diameter of the crank pilot on the torque converter vs. the diameter of the pilot hole in the crankshaft. If the OD of the converter is bigger than the pilot hole, you have an interference fit that is forcing the converter into the front pump. Could have trashed the pump and done other damage.
