Dumped almost a 1/4 tank of fuel, completely soaked my clutch, and the thing smoked like the engine overheated. Luckily a guy in a F250 pulled up beside me honking his horn and shouted that I just blew my radiator hose and was dumping coolant. I started to pull over before I really knew anything was wrong.
Luckily I had some hose clamps in the tool box and was able to clamp it back together and get home. Tomorrow I guess I'll either add more clamps to the rest of the fittings or remove it.
When I pulled over and into a gas station parking lot (not such a good place to park in hindsight) smoke started coming out from under the hood like an overheated engine, but the stench of diesel was strong.
I shut the key off, popped the hood release lever and jumped out of the truck and just watched for a minute to make sure it wasn't going to turn into a fireball before I opened the hood.
Lot's of smoke, and a nice trail of fuel following me down the street, but the way the valley is designed in these motors, it drains pretty well without catching things on fire.
How long have you had it ??? I would contact Clay at Riffraff.
This thread was meant so others would check theirs if they have one. I put a hose clamp on the side that blew off. When I started it back up, I noticed with a flash light I could see a real fine mist coming out the other side so I slapped a clamp on that side too. It's a lot easier to check this stuff in your driveway than on the way home.
I'll call Clay tomorrow after I tear into it and see if I can figure out what happened. I'll withhold any opinion type statements until after I've spoken with him. This is simply, do you have one, and if so, you might want to check this.

Sorry about your woes! Would you recommend double clamping all fuel line pressure hoses?
I'm confused. If they don't come with clamps, what holds them on?
I had the braided SS return line on my RR gall through the plastic armor around it and the rubber covers on the terminals on the GPR. The resulting arc burned through the return line and resulted in a similar release of fuel directly onto the turbo, producing an effective smokescreen apparatus behind me on the interstate.
Chris,
I have an FRX from Riffraff, its been on my truck for nearly a year. Mine has Hose clamps on it ( it came that way ) I have never had problem. A week ago Bulla had 1 of his blow off on the way to the Texas GTG in Baytown, Then another one blew off on the way home. His didn't have clamps on it either. If anyone has one with out clamps I would suggest they install the clamps.
the one in the clip i posted has a clamp on it.... i believe Clay got a recal on the hoses...so i dont believe the clamp or lack of has any thing to do with it...my DI regulated return doesnt have a clamp with that type of fitting and its held up well with mine and the thousand's he has sold...
How many clamps do you have on yours Bob? I plan on clamping every connection on there tomorrow if I leave it on. Luckily it blew off the T and not one of the hard to reach fittings on the head.
