Hidden Frame Damage....need help

Hey everyone, hope all is well.

I have a 1979 F-100 2wd that is currently my restomod project. Basically what I found is that on the front of the frame rails, the previous owner copped off a few inches and put a really crappy bumber brackets on (homemade) and did a really crappy welding job at that. I have tried to find just the front frame ends so I can weld them on to meet OEM spec mainly because I will be using the OEM chrome bumber.

Does anyone know where I can get a pair of front frame rail ends to repair this damage? I have tried the junk yards in my area and have found nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciates.

Thanks
Pitbull

I have a couple salvage frame front ends that I have saved just for the brake and rotor parts. If your f-100 is the same as a f-150 or 250 I can help you out.. email me at

Just a stupid thought of mine but you could get the highboy bumper brackets and drill a hole and bolt or just weld them on. I can`t think of any particular reason it wouldn`t work and I think it would be easier.

Vic,

I'm located near Worcester, MA. Let me know what ideas you have floating around in your head ti help solve this issue.

Radar,

Since F-100 and F-150 are very similar during the years of 1974 and 1979 but I am not sure about the frame. How do I find out if they are the same or not?

Thanks guys for the help.

Pitbull

not sure how much this helps, but my 77 f150 has a 75 f100 body on it, and it "appears" to have been a straight up bolt on. ( I didn't do it)...so i'd "suspect" the frames are probably identical

I think they would all be the same 73 -79 in a F-150. I was just wondering if the F100 would be different.. I don't think they would be, but in my part of the country I hardley ever see an F100 ( all 150 to 350)and I'm just not sure..

I have a 74 f100 longbed. I swapped the frame for a 79 f150 shortbed, and its all the same, the only difference for me was the whole, making it a shortbed so minus a foot and a half, so yes f100 and f150 frames are the same. Hope that helps a bit?

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the information it has all been very helpful and will definitely help me finish my truck.

Another issue that I have is that i need to wire the entire truck including the ignition system. Can anyone reccomend a cheap but reliable ignition system that I could buy? Just paying $400-600 for MSD or Accel or other high price brands makes my stomach turn upside down.

Thanks All!!

How about Ford's Duraspark? You should be able to find that in a junkyard or here is a DurasparkII
