Wink Flurries my butt..........

On the drive home, the guy on radio said heavy snow has passed, flurries later today, tonight, moderate snow tomorrow afternoon into Friday. It quit for like ten minutes, and has been coming down in droves since around 11am. Nice knowing they're on the money. Heard one weather guy for channel 7 out here say this one came out of left field. Bite me. I got your left field over here now. I don't think these guys are as educated as I first thought. Outta' left field my butt..............maybe say "a dusting to almost 3 feet is expected in the Northern Virginia today". At least he would be covered. Not trying to beat a dead subject more, but it would be nice if they had better info to put out. Maybe he should just say "I got no clue folks" then I'd wouldn't be frustrated. A dusting, yea right.

At least it's pretty coming down................

That is why they always say there is a "chance of precipitation" or a "chance or snow".

I remember listening to the radio one time and the weather man on the radio said "0% chance of precipitation today". Meanwhile, just outside my car it was raining like an SOB. Must not have windows at the radio or weather station.

If you expect the world to go as planned,... forget it. The forecasters are trying to predict a very complicated thing. You won't get an exact prediction and probably never will. The forecasts aren't any better now than they were in 1945.
Fancy radars and computers with color-coded 3- Dimensional videos of weather simulations are just an elaborate way of fooling us into watching the daily news programs.

Whine whine whine. here in Portland there are two methods of predicting the weather.

1) Look at Mount Hood. If you can see it, it is going to rain. If you cannot see it, it is going to rain.

2) Look out the window. You have a good chance of having a more accurate prediction than the weather man.

I love that if you look or hear 3 or 4 sources, almost never will they totally agree. Some days you might even get 4 very different forecasts.

Weather prediction is pretty complex with a bit of magic, but sheesh, you would think they could do as well as the Window predictor.

Just more whining.

The funniest words in the English language have got to be "Accu-Weather". I get the feeling these guys are reading tea leaves or something, maybe throwing chicken bones on the ground to see what patterns emerge.

"Hmm... the thigh bone's connected to the neck now... must be going to rain in Poughkeepsie tomorrow."

lol

I would LOVE to be a forecaster- it's the only profession where you can be dead wrong half the time, and keep your job.

You need a weather stone.
Tie a fist sized stone in a sling of twine or light rope and hang it from a tree branch a bout 15 feet from a window.
It will tell you the weather.

If it feels hot, it's sunny.

If it's moving, it's windy.

If it's wet, it's raining.

If it's white, it's snowing.

If you can't see it, it's foggy.

If it come flying through the window and embeds itself in the wall, you are having a tornado.

If it's gone, you got ripped off.
