I have been having some intermittent ABS light issues on my 2002 mountaineer for about eight months. I bought an Innova 3160 scan tool so I can check for ABS codes. I am getting a code C1940 which is for a brake pressure switch. I assume this is the thing on the top of the master cylinder with a wire harness attached. Is this the part that Ford would have replaced a couple of years ago for a fire hazard recall? Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement part to see if it fixes my ABS issues? I can't seem to find any brake pressure switch searching online.
Exactly!
*brake pressure sensor (also called speed control deactivator switch) (ABS only) (SW-6350 Motorcraft Kit)
The recall is still active. If you take it in for the recall and there is evidence of LEAKAGE on the switch they will replace the switch in addition to installing the recall harness.
Thanks! My local auto parts store (advance auto) did not have the part and could not help me in obtaining the part. I went ahead and ordered it from Amazon.
