Hello everyone, I was playing on line seaching for infromation and ran across Diesel Care and Performance web site They have a set of high performance Nozzles for the 6.0 they say the nozzles will add 40, 70, or 100 extra horses to the engine. i was wondering is that all i have to change in the injector. do any one know if this is true if so when i do my egr delete and headstuds i will do them also. but i want to get some information first
Changing the nozzles won't really get you anymore fuel. The barrel of the injector only holds "x" amount of fuel for each injection event. Without increasing the barrel capacity you actualy have nothing extra. Theoretically you could actually damage the injector internals from fuel starvation by running them out of fuel too quickly.
raptor2005 - Are you also asking whether or not you need an upgraded fuel system and/or tuning to take advantage of larger injectors (this is the barrel capacity)?
I found that add too. I sent them the following e-mail and am waiting on a response.
I have been researching injectors for a while now looking at affordability. I looked at your website and saw that your 100HP injectors utilize a modified plunger and barrel system, but since your 30-75 horsepower injectors are a self rebuild they would not, so how does it provide more fuel?
I know that other companies that refab injectors use larger barrels and plungers on their injectors for less than 100 horsepower and they maintain that without the larger volume components the injectors won't push more fuel and can run dry causing damage.
Can you confirm for me why you use the larger barrels and plungers for the 100HP injectors, but they are not required for this higher HP rebuild kit. Thank You
Jeremy
At our shop we have the ability to modify additional componets in the injector that would not be fesiable in a non shop enviorment. You can use the 100HP injectors and would see a noticible increase, but low idle stability is an issue without the other modifications. Most customers who want to do it themselves gloss over the low idle issues and don't seem to mind.
Hope this helps.
