passanger side mirror

i reciently had the passanger side mirror get hit and snapped off on my 2005 f-150 fx4. i am wondering the cheapest and best way to have it replaced. all the wires are attached still and it works perfectly, it just hangs down. i was hoping maybe it can be fixed without replacing it??? the mirror came off so that needs to be replaced as well. it is power operated and has the blinker within it. i was thinking of trying to find a replacment myself then taking it to the shop. any ideas? thanks

It's hard to really help you out without pictures or more info about what broke. I'm going to assume that the fasteners have been comprimised so simply "fixing it" is most likely out of the question.

Do you tow ever? Might be a good time to upgrade to the beefier tow mirrors...that is if you like that look.
For replacements I would either Ebay it, or check out www.partsguyed.com. Ed is a sponsor here and he has some great prices on OEM replacements.

Sorry to hear of your luck, hopefully you'll find something that works for ya.

Short of trying to glue the part hanging down back on you will have to replace the whole mirror. You will be much happier with this route plus you won't have to find a piece of glass for it to get it done.

I agree with Davis if you ever do towing now is a great time to upgrade to the larger side mirrors.

thanks! the entire component (plastic part and mirror) is what got broken. the elecrical wires are the only thing that are keeping it attached as of now. i was able to lift it back up and put it into place. If the mirror itself wasnt missing it would look like nothing is broken.

I haven't done it myself, but it all depends on your knowledge and capabilities. If my knowledge is correct, it should require a few screws and some splicing of the wires (I cannot recall if there is a plug/harness for the mirrors or not).

As with anything, patience is the key. I'm sure there is a schematic of this somewhere. Try the search function or a Hanes manual.

Hell, give it a try. It's already hanging off right? Half the work is already done!!!

Good to see a few ladies on here mixing it up with the guys. BTW, good looking FX4 SCrew you have there. I looked at one in black, but it wasn't leather. Nice truck!

thanks! I absolutly love it! its fun to watch guys checking out the truck as i drive up then realize its me driving it and get the heads turned...

it does have leather seats which I like but I am looking to get seat covers to help protect and keep them looking great. i am a snowboarder and i dont want them getting ruined by everybodys wet gear after a day on the slopes. do you know where i can get or if i can get covers for the back seats? they are the bucket seats that hold three people in the back, but im sure you already knew that

Well I learned something the week I bought mine. The FX4 is marketed towards the "active user". Your back seats aren't leather. They're actually vinyl (plastic). They did this so that water, dirt, etc won't absorb like it would the leather. The front buckets in your truck are "leather trimmed". The only real leather on them is the actual surface your *** and back are against. The rest of the front seats are vinyl as well (side, headrests, and backs).

If you really want to spend some coin on a nice cover, check out Wet Okole:
Ford F150 Standard Color Seat Covers - Wet Okole Hawaii
These are great covers and they fit very nicely, but there are not cheap! They're probably the best suited for your snowboarding days.

You're probably going to want some floor mats also. Check out WeatherTech's digital fit liners. They are possible the best and will protect every inch (almost) of your carpet front and back.

Welcome to FTE!! We'll gladly help you spend your $$$

On my 04 the drivers side mirror was broken when I bought it. After checking prices for a replacement I decided to go with aftermarket mirrors for the 2010-11 models. It was about 250 bucks for the set and they look better than the stock mirrors. The OEM was that much for just the 1 mirror that I needed. The door panels are kind of a pain to get off, but after doing the first one the other wasn't bad. I did keep the passenger side mirror that was not damaged as it will fit the 06 if my wife happens to have any mishaps LOL.

Not sure what you put in your toolboxes but if you want to save the bed since it is only 5.5ft check out some of my picks with the cover and the swinging tool boxes. They are smaller and hold about 75lbs each but I still have full use of the bed area and didn't lose some of it to a box. In hind sight I would have kept looking for an 07 with a 6.5 bed and put in the larger box and cover behind that but hey there is always the next truck.

wow, I didn't know they made toolboxes like that one. I just might have to get one for mine. I just have odds and end tools, jumper cables, and such. I like the look of the silver ones but I am not set and stone on anything yet.and yes I definitely need a cover. I have been trying to determine what kind to get. I assumed a hard one but as i looked into price the soft roll up type I think is the answer. I really only need it for during the snowboarding season so gear can go in the back and people inside. how much money am I looking at for a good cover and swinging toolbox? and do you have any recommended brands? Im not going for the best just good quality at a decent price.
