They work just like the a/c pump. In fact, thats how you can make a diy one using a york a/c compressor and some other parts.

i gathered up some steel and supplies tonight and loaded "the Whip"
tomorrow im gonna pull the interior out and get to work on the crossmember

Jim I saw on the Trucks show that someone makes a spray in sound control product.
It looked like a nice setup to get in to all the little places.

dash is out
seats are out front and rear
working on the trans crossmember tomorrow
