If you are having to add fluid, You have a leak somewhere. If you can't see one, look inside the cab at the point where the brake actuation rod goes into the hydro-booster.

Not sure on another full syn, but you can use regular Mercon V also.

Well, I did finally locate some Mobile 1 Syn at Advanced auto parts for about $9 a quart.

In the mean time, I noticed my power steering whining again. and this time i found some fluid leaking. I was not able to see any before. This is what i found.Name: image.jpg

The nut in the 2nd pic looked to be the culprit. Went to tighten it up and sure it enough, it was about a 1/2 turn loose. So far, no more leaks. Does andyone know what that line is used for?

Hey did you ever flush your system? I had braking issues and flushed mine just like the link said to do. Man was it a good post on it and it improved my braking too (old oil smells really burned). I got the whole thing done from jacking the truck up to lowering it in less than an hour (had my niece steer and brake for me). I used Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF bought it at Auto Zone it's only sold in quarts and pumped a little more than 3 1/2 quarts through it until it was nice and red. I accidentally put power steering fluid in mine too and was glad I did so that I got this done and fixed my brake issue. Just be careful not to overfill the reservoir while the truck is running I got ATF all over from the fan after I spilled some out. They also sell Mercon V for 1/2 the price of Mobil a quart but I went with the spendy this time.

No i have not flushed it yet. I wanted to get my leak resolved first. Kinda a waste to flush it until then. I'm gonna give it a little longer to see if tightening that fitting was the prob.

Glad to see u got the results you did. Hopefully, it will improve my braking too cause frankly, it sucks.

I'd tighten up that nut and then Simple Green that area and clean everything up and look again later after a short drive, you'll see if that helps or you will see a fresh leak to diagnois and fix. I see you had your cruise control recall done because I see that repair Ford recall fused link. I had mine done and because its somewhat tight in that area, the tech that did mine, I found that my line going to that fitting is loose, I can turn that line in that fitting, but mines not leaking but I'll keep an eye on it. Just for info purposes for anybody else doing this flush procedure, Vavoline Max Life is another great synthetic trans fluid to use, expensive but really good.
