I have a 2001 Ranger Edge 4x2 with the 4.0 motor. Just hit 46K the other day. I am stationed in Germany, so it sees the Autobahn (80-90 mph cruising) almost every day. I put in the K&N FIPK filter kit, Bosch Platinum+4 plugs, cat-back dual exhaust, and switched to mobil 1 oil. No other engine mods yet. I have an Access soft tonneau cover for the back, and that really helps mileage and handling. Hard to check mileage since I have to get gas in liters, but I think that I am getting about 23 mpg on the highway.
187,300 miles on my '99 3.0 FFV. And I spent all but two months of '03 in IRAQ, so that's 46,825 a year. And the only problem so far.....a corroded EGR position sensor.
1998 3.9L XLT with 94k...some off road driving. Everything is still original, except standard tune-up stuff. I have changed all O2 sensors and fuel filter, etc...reg. maintainence...only problem I've ever had was transmission coolant line had to be replaced...
It has only taken me 2 weeks to put 1,200 miles on my '04 now. Still loving it cept the mileage is not as good as I had hoped. Getting about 17 mpg on the interstate.
106,000 miles on my black 4x4 '99 Ranger with the 4.0L and a 5-speed. Nothing but routine preventative maintenance, and no problems other than the stupid door chime.
Had a neighbor who bought a used Explorer form a friend hwo used it to tow his boat on the highway, had 275k on it three years ago, and I have still seen it driving around. 4.0L 4x4 auto
I have 66,000 on my 01 Edge 3.0 E-cab. It's been thru a lot and has never failed. This is truely a great truck. Done just regular maintenance. Aftermarket exhaust, air box mod and chip help out
I have a 1991 ext. cab XLT with the 4.0 V6. I bought it new and it now has 217,600 miles on it. I have never done any work on the engine except replace some of the normal junk like alternator and starter. It runs like a champ and always passes smog. I did have the auto trans rebuilt at 180,000 miles because the 1st/2nd shift valve would stick until it warmed up. Honestly, I am a little surprised I haven't had to do more to it. I guess I'll keep it 'till it dies, then put another engine in it.
