A little over 190,000 on my '86 2.9. Still has the original starter, alternator, PS pump, injectors (only been cleaned once), both fuel pumps. Had to replace the oil pump and pickup 'cuz it clogged last year. It also spent 2 winters in Alaska parked outside, with no block heater. Always started and ran. Only quit twice in 16 years, once 'cuz of the stator, once 'cuz of the TFI module.

My '99 Ranger just turned 14,000. That's about 3500 a year - I change the oil (Mobil l) every January.

88 Ranger 4WD, 2.9L, 5 spd. 295,000 miles. No work done on engine other than plugs, cap, rotor, wires, oil changes, etc.. Replaced valve cover gaskets twice, oil pan gasket leaking enough now to warrant a change. Rear main seal likely too. Still get 20 mpg. Starting to get some idling problems, of which I've recieved some help from this website.

94 XLT supercab 4x4 4.0L 5SPD loaded 1 owner-------150,250 miles. Oil changed every 3,000 miles. Rebuilt tranny @ 109,000m, replaced L/H power window regulator @ 140,000m, removed engine carbon buildup @ 142,000 m (wished more people would so they would not have to write in and complain about engine knock and wonder how to fix it) new radiator @ 145,000m. Original exhaust system and except for license plate lights, they are all original too. It goes 4x4ing and is driven much harder than average, yet it get's loving maintenance, and still doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes. I whished it would cause more problems so I would have a reason to go buy another brand new one.

My truck is a '99 4x4 with the 4.0 and auto. I have 73,657 miles on it as of today. Runs strong.
My best friend has an '88 with the 2.9, and he has 214,000 miles on his, still runs strong. All we've done is replace the water pump, U-joints, and a couple of other very minor items. |

98 4x4 4.0L 5spd Supercab w/ 68k miles on it. Everything looks original from what I can tell, I've only owned it since 50k. It has it quirks, but nothing compared to my 86 4wd VW Vanagon.

The 2000 3.0 25k, 2002 3.0 7k, 1989 2.9 had about 130k.

I'm approaching 100,000 kms (60,000miles) with my Trooper!! It has never let me down... still have the original muffler!! Just got a full tune up in the fall along with a new battery and also changed my timing belt and rad hoses... ordinary maintenance for an 8 yr old truck. One thing for sure.... my Sierra that I purchased in '88 and sold in '95 when I purchased my Ranger was a lot more troublesome... will forever be a Ford Fan from now on!!!

Turning over 116,000 miles this week and running like a champ. I just try and listen and pay attention, catch the little things before they turn into big things, heed good advice from people who know what they're talking about, and try not to drive it when I'm in a bad mood ;).
