86 Bronco Gauges read wrong

Hey Gang the 86 is running good I have fixed 99 percent of the cobbled together bs on the thing. The power windows and locks are fixed, all th aftermarket and very cheesy gauges removed except tach. But heres the problem all the factory gauges now work, however the fuel gauge reads full when full and empty after going 140 miles or so.filling it back up usually aroun11-12 gallons. The temp reads toward hot side when its around 180.changed to a new sending unit same result. The tach reads 3300 on highway aftermarket runs 2500 at 65mph. oil pressure runs on high side, verified with mechanical gauge 40-70 psi ,added new sending unit same readings.Speedo is correct! Dash lights seem dimmer than they should be but work. I just wanted to pick at yalls brains, cluster voltage regulator?

Sounds like an over-volt situation since everything is running "higher" than it should. The speedo is completely mechanical in the 86 so it should be right. I would check the voltage at the fuses for the instrument cluster with the engine running. Could be voltage reg. as you suspect. As for the dim dash lighting, you could be dealing with a very old or very dirty dimmer in the light switch. Again, check voltage to the dash lights at one of the lamps to see what ind of voltage you are actually getting at the lamp sockets.

Ok as far as gauges reading high volatge regulator on back of dash replaced and now they seem correct. Tach being off was missing ground to tach(thanks to the guys on the truck section). the fuel level issue still not solved yet. The sender seems to be the culprit.Thank goodness my bronco has a 4 in body lift! it looks like i can remove it without dropping tank. I also was able to find the power door lock issue, the PO who i have discovered was not a wiring pro. had cut two of the window wires behind the driver kick panel. So except for the fuel problem all the electrical in truck is repaired correctly.
