The transfer case doesn't have a computer, an electronic shift engine and i think that's it. If you refer to the tranny computer, that would be the truck's ECU or the chips controlling the solenoid pack.

The electronic B-W 1356 cases do have a shift module mounted near the EEC-IV computer behind the passenger kick panel in the foot well. Any F150 or Bronco with an electronic 1356 will have one of these.

Out of curiosity, how is it you are certain the shift module has failed? These are rarely the cause for an electronic 1356 to fail to shift.

Never had to replace them its a solid state module and is the most durable part of the system. I bet its the motor I would check that first and double check it.

What typically happens with the electronic 1356 t-cases is that the motor binds in mid-shift. The problem with this is that there are switches/triggers that "tell" the shift module the position of the shift motor most of the time. However, if the motor doesn't fully engage it ends up stuck between triggers and the module has no idea what the position of the shift motor is. As a fail-safe the module will not move the shift motor unless it "knows" the position of the shift motor. This is why the problem is most frequently a stalled shift motor. Sometimes removing the motor from the t-case and rotating it into one of the fully engaged positions will put everything back to rights. Just make sure that whatever movement you make to the shift motor, you do the same to the t-case internals as well before trying to re-install the shift motor.
