BANG in 97 Exploder 5R55E Trans !

BANG in 97 Exploder 5R55E Trans !
I got a 97 exploder that was a bit wrecked in front end, air bags blown. Spent last winter in garage and on ebay getting parts. Even cut out both left and right door lower panels and replaced with new ones, no rust now at all. She is super clean and engine is in great shape.
BUT...
Driving down the road at 40mph all of sudden as if not in gear, rev the engine and no go... coasted to a stop off the road. Waited 10 min. started it up and transmission in gear fine.
Drive down the road all is shifting fine, come near my house, coasting to a stop and BANG ! from underneath... I pop it in neutral and coast into my driveway.
Now I can start and pull in/out of garage no problem.
I drove again, ran fine, but while slowing down at a stop light, BANG !, put it in neutral, coasted to stop... waited few minutes, back on the road again to go home.
Major Trans problem ?
Ideas ?
Looking for a good Trans guy in Ralegh NC.
