firing system on a 351
i have a 351w, i have done a complete rebiuld, all parts are to factory specs except it has a .030 bore, the performer intake and i just upgraded from a holley 650 to a 750 holley double pumper, now im gona replace my firing system with msd, im also gona put in a stage 2 cam from comp cams with a double roller timing set, my question is how far do i need to go with my firing sytem, i will be using this for street use, as of now im planning on going with a new msd distibutor without vacuum advance, msd ignition box and a blaster 2 coil with high performance wires and plugs, does this sound like a good setup?

Both those carbs are WAY too big for the motor, go find yourself a 550cfm with vacuum secondaries.. it's all the motor needs until you get better heads. And it's anybodys guess what a "stage 2" cam is but if it has anyhing over 260deg total duration it's a total mismatch.. unless you get better heads. Are you seeing a pattern developing here?

For your ignition system you should consider a Petronix type drop in system in your distributor and a high output coil. The petronix is just a magnetic pickup and rotor. you can keep your vacuum advance if you want or you can get the distributor recurved for centrifugal advance only if that's what you want.
Carburetors are easy to over do. Depending on the engine build and the rpm you intend to use it. Ford was using a pair of 1150s on the Boss 302 engines for Trans Am racing back in 1970 and they ran very good. Ford also had engineers doing the tunes on them at the track though.
