4X4 Low doesn't engage.

4X4 Low doesn't engage.
Anyone know where I should start looking. I'm pressing the brake pedal down and in neutral (automatic) and the 4X4 low doesn't engage, it just stays in Hi.

Have you tried letting the rig move forward a few feet, sometimes it doesn't engage unless you let it move a bit. If that doesn't work, get a big hammer and whack the transfercase motor.

Well most people never use the 4x4low or even 4x4 most likely so it tends to jam some and have more issues engaging. Use it once a month like the rest of your 4x4 system and the better it will work when you need it.

if there is a load on the drive shaft the transfer case will not engage the 4x4 low.that goes for most transfer cases. ideally you want to put it in nuetral, let off the brake enough to roll 2 feet, then engage 4x4 low. should go in no problem
