I pulled the codes on my '89 I6. The KOEO test showed a 22 seperated by a single flash and another 22. The KOER showed 11's. The idle has been intermittently rough on start-up, but no real pattern to this. I cleaned the throttle body and it seems to perform better (maybe it is wishful thinking !) I did not clean remove and clean the IAC as I am having problems finding a gasket for it, short of buying a whole IAC, and have been to lazy to tap one out. The resistance check on the IAC however showed it was fine. Is this indicative of the BAP/MAP sensor?
My symptoms have been an occasional rough idle on start up. It happens only every so often and there does not seem to be a pattern to it. It clears with in a minute or so, I usually start driving and about a 1/4 mile down the road you can feel it clear and the power pick up where it is supposed to be.
I collect MAPs (and lots of other stuff) from junkyards. My whole truck is built from junkyard parts, and it's more reliable than my sister's '94 Tahoe. Most junkyards will let you take little electronic parts if you're buying something bigger that they normally sell, so check around. If a used one clears up the problem, you'll know what it is. If it doesn't, you haven't spent much trying it, and you have a spare.
