I'm getting my door, fender, and hood repainted, factory code is Z1 Oxford White. The PPG book at the shop lists a single mix for Z1 and YZ paint codes, and I know they are not the same. My code, Z1, is a bright white and YZ is a creamier white with a grey/tan tone to it. Did PPG drop the ball on this? Can anyone get me the correct mixtures for each so I can show the shop? Thanks!
Call up a DuPont vendor...we use a 'VINDICATOR' to get the correct mix. PPG didn't necessarily drop the ball, but the difference could be in the alternate that their color chip shows, there are numerous ones for each color. I've seen both YZ and Z1 be brilliant white and a creamier off white-ish white(if that makes sense at all).
If the shop can or will...call the VIN number into either their supplier or a dealership, they should be able to get the correct mix and check it with a sprayout. We've had to do that with Mitsubishi a couple times.
