Electronic Shift Enhancement

Anybody have experience with this shift enhancer? It is made by Jet. I put a Banks TransCommand on my F350 Diesel 4x4 and it really helped. We use our 98 Explorer Limited 5.0 AWD for daily driving and to tow our 22' travel trailer. Just thinking that it might extend the tranny life for firmer shift/less slip&hunt while towing.

Text from the site:

The Transmission Controller is a new concept in transmission shift kits. It electronically controls the transmission shift firmness without expensive, labor intensive, modification of the transmission valve body. Shift firmness can be instantly adjusted from Stock, Stage I, Stage II and Race with a switch on the cockpit mounted control module. The easy to install Transmission Controller connects inline with the transmission harness. The switch/control module mounts on the lower dash panel or side of console with preattached two-sided tape. Fits V8s only with door sticker trans code "U" or "E" only. Fits 96-00 V8.

Thanks,

I have the Jet shift kit. It helps tremendously, probably one of the better mods I have done. With the 4 different stages you can set it at, you can choose how quick/firm you want it to shift.

If you do not want to put a mechanical kit in, and like the ability to adjust the shift, I recommend getting one...

I bought the JET controller from EE. I put it in and it did not work. Whenever I switched it on, it was like it wa backfeeding the EECV, and the vehicle stalled.
I ended up dropping the pan and installing a Baumann kit : http://baumannengineering.com/aodecat.htm .
The worst part is that EE would not take the part back, they told me to call JET, and JET insisted that I had done something wrong during install. WOrst customer service experience I've had in a while.
Obviously they work - XP got his to work - I'm not so sure they are compatable on all models.
I think I still have it in the box. If you wanna buy it, say $50 plus shipping - at your risk. I can send pics

Frank - did you have a chip in a the time?

I forgot to take my chip out when I installed mine, and had the same problem. Had to take the chip out on the side of the road - then no problems.

How do you like the Baumann kit? I am thinking of getting one. I know Drew (Expo5.0) put one in and loves his. Anything negative about it?
