Exhaust studs
My 03 crew cab 4x4 dually has about 36k miles on it now. It sounds like there is an exhaust leak during acceleration. Iv'e heard the stories about the exhaust studs. The v-10 is just broken in.....could it be the exhaust studs? Why hasn't Ford recognized this with a recall?

Probably studs. Pull/drill them out and install M8x1.25x35 grade 8 bolts with a dab of copper based anti-seize lubricant.
The other probability is that one of your spark plugs is working its way out. You should check the torque of them. They should be 14ft.lbs.. If you find one loose, you may end up having to put in a new plug insert in the head.
