I have a 2001 f350 4X4 with a 7.3L, I just bought. If I have not started the truck for more than 4 hours or it's real cold when I start it it diesels real bad, if I touched the accelerator pedal it would stop. So I replaced the cam position sensor and the throttle position sensor(new accelerator pedal). I don't want to use the new remote start option on the new alarm I put on it, till I get this problem fixed. What could cause that?
Sounds like you have a case off the 'rumps', change the oil to a 5w40 like Shell Rotella.
And also go to the 99-03 7.3 diesel forum, lot's off good stuff for your truck.
Have you tried to plugging in the block heater to see if that keeps the engine warm enough to stop the rough running at cold start? The block heater cord should be tucked behind the bumper cover just inside the opening for the driverside tow hook.
I tried ti start it today it was 70 degrees. that's no my problem. When I said cold I meant have not been running in 2-3 hours and engine not warm, not outside temp, Thanks anyway for the feedback.
