I need to add this to my list of parts to change now that I'm at 204k miles

-water pump
-thermostat
-idler pulley bearings
-fan clutch
-maybe AC fan clutch
-coolant temp sensor
-coolant
-hoses
Just so you know. The fan will be on all the time when you first start the truck until it reaches a set temperature, or about 1500rpm. So you will here it if you drive right away, and by the time the 3rd gear torque converter locks you will here it cut out. It will then never come on again unless your motor gets to about 200 -205 degrees. So don't be alarmed when its on in the morning. But on all the time means its seized up.

What Sous said!! I cant believe how many people go threw hell trying to track this down. Its the tensioner 99.99999% of the time. Ive read this a million times and cant believe no one bucks up and buys the tensioner. They always ignore it and replace everything else first. The is actually a ford posted bulletin about this very issue, and it says replace the tensioner. I'm just laughing now about all the money these guys waste. I give up trying on these guys. Glad they can afford it. When there all done playing. The tensioner is cheap and comes with all the pulleys included. Also, if the belt is rubbing on the side of any pulley. That percentage goes up to 100% The 99.9999% is for squealing. Just a note. I am one of the guys that spent 2 years and many belts and pulleys to learn my lesson. So blast me if you want, but I'm right, you'll see.

the problem in my case is that the tensioner it keeps breaking, i am Now om my N°5 replacement, I don't buy new ones any more. I change the screw, buy a 1/2 inch longer, make a dent on the tip, to fit a screwdriver, in case it breaks again, you have to take the base off and hold the broken part from the other end in order to fit the replacement screw, This time I replaced the bearings on the smog air pump that was hard to turn, I hope this will fix the subjectar "once & forever"

Smog air pump? Never seen one of those? Is that a California thing again? Odd yours keeps breaking, something is definitely stressing it.

I changed my tensioner and belt at 205k miles as preventive maintenance and I noticed it shakes quite a bit with the engine running. I need to get some video of it uploaded. I wonder if this is the cause of my rhythmic belt squeaking.

My old tensioner and the new (just installed 2 weeks ago) tensioner shimmy/shake in a very similar fashion, but only at idle. How do I know it only happens at idle and not at 1100 RPM or so? No, I don't have a camera mounted to the front of the engine or anything, I have a high idle tune from GH and when I noticed the shake of the tesnioner it coincided with the engine idle noise. I bumped the switcher up to the high idle of 1100 RPM and the tensioner was smooth as silk.

I would not worry about it, maybe get someone to throttle the engine up a bit while you look down at the tesnioner to see if it smooths out.

I changed the idler pulley since it was cheapest, and it didn't resolve the problem, so i also changed the water pump. But i also installed a new belt when i changed the pump. Before i changed the water pump, the belt would always ride up against the edge of the water pump pulley towards the engine. I just assumed this was because i had a little slack in my water pump. Now that the new water pump is installed, the belt still rides hard on the inside of the pulley toward the engine. A new water pump pulley is $90 so i didn't want to just change it and that not be the problem. So what do y'all think?

Have any of u ever had this problem before? I know it has to be a pulley rubbing on the smooth side of the belt b/c if i spray a lil soapy water on the smooth side, it stops squealing. but if i spray it on the inside, on the ribs, the squeal doesn't go away.
I had a bad belt squeal for about a month and sprayed 303 Aerospace lubricant on it. One pump of the spray bottle silenced it completely. It’s been about 2 weeks and still no squeal.
