So guys when one of the big tuners H&S,KEM and Spartan release there tuners to the public will you be installing one and what will you buy? I know spartan is the big daddy for the 6.4. Ive been runnin H&S and love their customer sevice. Im just kinda curious if ya guys will mod a truck ASAP like it did mine
I had a Smarty POD on my 07 Cummins 5.9. The engine loved the tunes but the tranny did not. I will leave this one alone for now but I am intrigued to see what Spartan has coming out.
honestly... no. at least not for a long time. 400/800 is way more than I need in this truck already, and it keeps my warranty intact! Now, if *Ford* ever releases another tune to leapfrog whichever of the other two manufacturers answers the call first... then I'm in

Same here. Plenty of stock power already built into this truck for me.
Like my 6.4L, I have no plans to ever tune this truck.
My 6.4L's 350/650 was awesome, this thing's 400/800 is BRUTAL.
The overpowering problem for me regarding tuning is that I do NOT have $15K for a new engine should I break it. Heck, even if the tunes didn't cause the damage it won't matter, as Ford will point(for good reason!) to aftermarket tunes as the cause.
My trailer maxes out around 11,000 lbs; I have nothing that'll even strain this thing! I LOVE MY TRUCK the way it is!
Not I. More than enough stock power for my needs. I'll exceed weight limits before I exceed power limits and Ford offers pleanty of solutions above my F250. Now when I'm past my warranty, then past the ESP (or whatever it's called) warranty and Ford doesn't care about my truck at all and the DPF fails, well maybe I won't spend the money to replace the DPF.
That's a long ways away so who knows what will happen and maybe I won't keep the truck 10+ years.
Beat me up if you want on this one but I never have understood why you buy a new truck and feel the need to mess with it? Is it so you can put a couple more stickers on your truck to tell your buddies look what I have?
Stickers never excited me, but beating up on Mustangs and Camaros with a 8100 lb crewcab 4wd pickup sure did! Kinda fun to put a Rumblebee in his place also.
I've played the tuner game in the past, but this motor runs plenty strong enough for now. I don't see myself looking at tuning the 6.7 until it is out of warranty and by then we should know how well they hold up to it.
talked to MIke at Five star tuning 2 days ago and they are still a long way from being able to tune the 6.7 for the public
At least one other well known tuner has also stated that its been much more difficult then expected to flash tune them due to unexpected encryption that was added for the production trucks, but they are supposedly starting to get some where. No real timeframe for a public release either...
I also noted that Ford added on this little tid bit for the 11's...
Vehicle Modification Data Recording
Some aftermarket products may cause severe engine and/or transmission damage; refer to the What is not covered section in The new vehicle limited warranty for your vehicle chapter of your vehicle’s Warranty Guide for more information. Some vehicles are equipped with Powertrain Control Systems that can detect and store information about vehicle modifications that, for example, increase horsepower and torque output; this information cannot be erased and will stay in the system’s memory even if the modification is removed. When a dealer or repair facility works on your vehicle, it may be necessary for them to access the information in the Powertrain Control System. This information will likely identify if any unauthorized modifications have been made to the system, which may be used to determine if the warranty has been violated and if repairs will be covered by warranty.
400/800 is plenty for me. I'm already having problems with the 20" stock Michlins spinning when I floor it off the line to show Dodges and Chebbys who is the boss. This rig is a real "Smile Generator"
